DAVIDSON, N.C. –
The Davidson men's soccer team will look to return to the win column Wednesday night, hosting Radford in a match set to start at 7 p.m. in Alumni Stadium.

“This is going to be an exciting match with both teams striving for an important non-conference win,” said head coach Matt Spear. “It will be our first home game in which the summer heat has been replaced by cool fall temperatures, so I anticipate the players will be flying with speed and vigor.”

Fans unable to attend can follow the action via live video and live stats.

Scouting the Wildcats: Davidson enters with a 4-2-2 record after dropping their first Southern Conference game of the season Saturday night. The Wildcats had started the season with just one loss to No. 17 UCLA in their first seven games, but Elon struck early and was able to earn the win. Senior MF Alex Caskey continues to lead the 'Cats offensively with 10 points on four goals and two assists. The total places him in a three-way tie for second in the Southern Conference. In total goals, Caskey's four rank him 39th in the nation.

“Our attack needs to have various weapons to create quality scoring opportunities,” said Spear. “Then we must execute well to take advantage when the chances are presented.”

The Elon game was the first this season where Davidson's defense had difficulty, as the unit had already earned three shutouts in four wins. Davidson is now ranked 10th in the NSCAA South Region. Southern Conference foe College of Charleston moved up to fifth while UNCG and Elon trail in 11th.

Scouting the Highlanders:
Radford, of the Big South, enters with a 3-2-1 record and a three-game unbeaten streak. The Highlanders went the distance against Georgia Southern, earning a 1-1 draw, before earning a pair of 1-0 wins over Liberty and Longwood. Goalkeeper Ryan Taylor boasts a save percentage of .710 and a goals against average of 1.55. Iyiola Awosika leads Radford in scoring with three goals. He is followed by Bernardo Ulmo, who has two goals and an assist.

“Radford is very talented, athletic and skilled,” said Spear. “We will have our hands full in one-vs.-one battles across the field. New coach Marc Reeves has instilled a fresh energy and disciplined approach, so we will have to be sharp defensively for all 90 minutes.”

The Series:
Davidson holds a 7-2-1 record all-time record over Radford. The 'Cats won 2-0 at Radford last season and have won the last four meetings. The Highlanders last prevailed in 1997.

Up Next: Davidson will hit the road for its next four games, taking on College of Charleston Saturday at 4 p.m., No. 6 Duke Tuesday at 7 p.m., defending Southern Conference Champion Wofford live on Fox Soccer Channel Friday, Oct. 8. at 8 p.m. and SoCon foe Furman Tuesday, Oct. 12 at 7:30 p.m.
