DAVIDSON, N.C. –
The Davidson men's soccer team will honor their four seniors prior to Saturday night's match against non-conference foe Presbyterian. Kickoff for the second-to-last regular season match is set for 7 p.m. in Alumni Stadium.

“We want and need an important win,” said head coach Matt Spear. “The guys have worked hard, and I sense they are ready and willing to turn the corner.”

Fans unable to attend can follow the action via live video and live stats.

Before the match gets underway, the Class of 2011, composed of MF Alex Caskey, F Yannick Pilgrim, MF Peter Shelton and MF Josh Zipin will be recognized for their accomplishments at Davidson College.

Caskey is on pace to be the only player during Spear's tenure so far to play and start each and every game of his career. The Dunwoody, Ga. native has been a team captain for the past two seasons, is a two-time All-Southern Conference first-team selection, and was also named to the All-South Region team by the NSCAA. Pilgrim finished as the third-leading scorer in the SoCon last season, including a two goal performance in the 'Cats victory over No. 6 Duke. Shelton has assisted on a pair of goals this season and has proved to be a crucial part of Davidson's midfield. Zipin started regularly for Davidson throughout his career and tallied three goals and two assists in 2009.

“These four seniors are far more than just talented soccer players,” said Spear. “They are tremendous students and very fun to work with. We thank them for the many, many contributions and positive leadership they have provided. And they will be wonderful ambassadors and success stories moving forward.”

For those who can't make it to the field, the match will be broadcast on live video with live audio commentary, along with live stats throughout the contest.

Scouting the Wildcats: Davidson remains at .500 after their single-season record sixth draw of the season Tuesday night. The 'Cats played to a 1-1 tie with Georgia Southern to finish SoCon play at 1-3-3. With six points, the 'Cats will be the No. 6 seed for the SoCon Tournament, which is set to begin Saturday, November 6. Davidson's first-round opponent will be determined by the remaining Southern Conference matches.

Seniors Alex Caskey and Yannick Pilgrim assisted on freshman Alex Givens first-career goal in the Georgia Southern match. Caskey sent the ball forward where Pilgrim one-touched it to Givens for the goal, and Caskey is now the sole scoring leader with 13 points (5g, 3a). Junior goalkeeper Chip Sanders boats a .785 save percentage and 1.17 goals against average.

Davidson is winless in their last four games with three draws and a loss and remains undefeated in overtime with a 1-0-6 record in extra time. The Wildcats have had their best results this season in Alumni Stadium with just one loss in eight games.

“There is a very fine line between being competitive - with so many close matches and ties we have experienced – and winning,” added Spear. “We aim to find the recipe for success on Saturday.”

Scouting the Blue Hose:
Presbyterian College is 2-10-1 and 0-6-0 in the Big South, but the 'Cats should not take them lightly. PC's lone wins came in their two matches against SoCon opponents. They defeated Furman, 2-1, in overtime in their season opener and defeated Georgia Southern, 1-0, on Oct. 12. Logan Huff leads the team with three goals and one assist. All three goalkeepers have seen significant time in the net. James Neal and William Redmond have each played in seven matches, while Andrew Wallingford has played in four. Neal has posted the top numbers with a .771 save percentage and 2.22 goals against average.

The Series: Davidson is undefeated all-time versus PC, winning all five contests. Last year in Clinton, S.C., junior Allen Page made his first-career goal a special one, winning a goalmouth challenge and volleying in a corner kick with 1:27 remaining in the game to give the Wildcats a 2-1 win.

Up Next: Davidson will conclude the regular season against ACC foe Wake Forest Tuesday and await the results of the remaining conference matches to see who their first-round opponent will be.
