Wildcats Drop 5-0 Road Decision to Radford

RADFORD, Va. – The Davidson Wildcat team lost their nonconference road tilt to the Radford Highlanders, 5-0, Saturday afternoon at the Radford University Field Hockey Field in Radford, Va.
The 'Cats allowed four first-half goals in the defeat, with the scoring starting at the 9:16 mark of the game when Lara Cariker's shot slipped between the pads of Davidson goalkeeper Christa Goeke to give Radford a 1-0 lead. The Highlanders then put away three more scores between the 11th minute of play until right before halftime, when they struck with 14 seconds left in the first half.
Daivdson was able to limit Radford to just three shots in the second half, and only one goal, which came late in the game, at the 67:23 mark.
Lauren Calve, Clare Perry, and Tyler Kirkland all recorded shot attempts for the Wildcats, with Goeke spending 62:14 between the pipes and making five saves.
The Wildcats will now venture out west for a three-game road swing in the state of California. The 'Cats will begin their trip when they face off against California on Oct. 11 at 1:00 p.m. PST.
