Bio
One of the leaders on defense, Long returns to patrol the secondary from his free safety position. He has the ability to cover like a corner, yet the power to tackle like a linebacker.
2006: Season came to an early and abrupt end when he suffered a stinger on the last play of the first quarter in the season opener at VMI.
2005: Division I-AA Mid-Major All-America Second Team … fourth in the PFL in interceptions per game and passes defended per game … made his presence known in first collegiate game, recording season-high 15 tackles while collecting his first interception … broke up two passes and posted eight stops in win over Greensboro … returned a pickoff 16 yards versus Lenoir-Rhyne from inside the Wildcat 20-yard line, setting up a field goal … hauled in another interception at Valparaiso in the Davidson end zone, thwarting a possible touchdown … registered second double-digit tackle game with 11 against Drake … fourth pick was returned seven yards and led to a touchdown in win over Austin Peay … brought down 10 Dayton ball-handlers … fumble recovery at Georgetown helped ’Cats garner upset victory.

Prep Years: Three-time all-conference and two-time all-area performer for Coach Steve Kaplanis at Immaculate … earned all-state honors as a defensive back his junior year, then all-state honors as a running back his senior year … MSG Network Tri-State Player of the Week … member of three-time division champions and two-time state semifinalist squad … team captain and MVP as a senior … also played basketball and baseball in high school .. member of three-time state baseball champs.
Personal: Born June 22, 1986, in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. … volunteer at Bethel Health Care Center … has an uncle who was a quarterback at Marist College … son of Joanne Despain and Glen Long.
