Tim Maypray enters his first season on the sidelines for the Wildcats in 2018, serving as the team's running backs coach.
Maypray joins the Davidson football staff after a three-year at his alma mater, Virginia Military Institute. Maypray was in charge of the running backs after a stellar career for the Keydets that culminated with him earning the prestigious VMI Intercollegiate Athletic Award, given to the school's most outstanding athlete.
In his collegiate tenure, Maypray lined up as a receiver, return specialist, running back and quarterback for the Keydets. He earned All-Big South honors as a kick returner in 2007 and punt returner in 2009, and was selected second team All-Conference at wide receiver in 2007 and quarterback in 2008. He was also named the league's Freshman of the Year in 2006.
Maypray left his mark on the league, setting numerous records including all-purpose yards (6,129) and registered 10 games of 200 yards or more. He also holds Keydet records for all-purpose yards in a single game, a 346-yard output against Charleston Southern in 2007.
Following his collegiate career, Maypray went on to play three seasons in the Canadian Football League, splitting time with the Montreal Allouettes on their 2010 Grey Cup Championship team, and the Ottawa Redblacks.
