'Cats Top Queens 2-0, Earn Fifth Shutout

CHARLOTTE — Lourdes Wolf scored two second-quarter goals, and the Davidson field hockey team defeated Queens 2-0 on the road Friday evening.
It's the fifth shutout of the season for the Wildcats, who improved to 6-4 with their fourth win in the previous five contests.
It's Davidson's most shutouts in a season since the Wildcats had six in the eight-win 2015 campaign. This year, the Wildcats have also held Towson, Stonehill, Longwood and Bellarmine scoreless.
Wolf scored twice in a span of 6:02 to take her team-leading season total to seven goals. She struck with 9:13 left in the second quarter, then again with 3:11 on the clock. Maia Macaloney assisted on the second goal.
Davidson outshot Queens (2-6) by a 19-5 margin, including 14-1 on shots-on-goal. The Wildcats also held a 9-2 advantage in penalty corners.

Davidson is idle the rest of the weekend and will host Saint Joseph's Friday, Oct. 2.
