Davidson Set to Host River Run Collegiate

DAVIDSON, N.C. – After a one-year hiatus due to course renovations, the Davidson men's golf team will host the 10th River Run Collegiate Sept. 21-22.
The 54-hole / two-day event will consist of 36 holes Monday followed by the final round Tuesday. Both days will begin with a 9 a.m. shotgun start on the 7,268-yard, Par 72 River Run Country Club layout.
In addition to the host Wildcats, the 13-team field will include Dayton, East Carolina, Marshall, Mount St. Mary's, Noth Carolina A&T, Presbyterian, Queens, Radford, Rhode Island, Robert Morris, Towson and Youngstown State.
Coming off a sixth-place showing at the Bryan National Collegiate hosted by UNCG, the Wildcats were led by freshman Griffin Cheatwood, who finished tied for second in his collegiate debut at 10-under par.
A native of nearby Charlotte, Cheatwood opened and closed with rounds of five-under 67, while posting an even-par 72 Saturday afternoon.
Davidson's Clayton Couey (E) and Nate Faulkner (E) also recorded Top-20 finishes in the first of five fall events for the 'Cats.
Alexander Paschall and Davis Sayman will also been in the Davidson starting lineup, while Benjamin Newfield, Owen Jessop and Will Tharin will compete as individuals.
