Wildcats Picked Sixth in Preseason Poll
Washington, D.C. – Davidson senior captain Lucas Beltran was tabbed as the Atlantic 10 preseason all-conference goalkeeper, the conference announced Monday.
Additionally, the Wildcats were picked to finish sixth in the league's preseason coaches' poll. Saint Louis swept all 13 first-place votes as the unanimous preseason favorite. Dayton took second, followed by George Mason in third, Fordham in fourth, and VCU rounding out the top five ahead of the Wildcats.

A native of Encinitas, Calif., Beltran has started in net for the Wildcats in 35 of the 37 games over the past two seasons. Last season, Beltran recorded 53 saves and a .697 saves percentage, while maintaining a 1.29 goals-against average. He led the team to six solo shutouts, including clean sheets against Campbell, St. Bonaventure, Saint Joseph's, La Salle, Rhode Island and Presbyterian.
Davidson enters the 2026 season having made the conference semifinals in two of the last three seasons. Last season, the Wildcats fell to the eventual champions, Saint Louis, in a hard fought 1-0 loss. The 'Cats retained much of their goal scoring from last season, keeping 92 percent of their scoring capacity from last season.
The Wildcats open the season at College of Charleston on Thursday at 5 p.m.
