Manjooran Named A-10 Rookie of the Week

WASHINGTON — Davidson infielder Matt Manjooran has earned the season's first Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week honor, the league announced Tuesday morning.
A freshman from Camas, Wash., Manjooran had a debut weekend to remember while starting all three games at second base. He hit .500 (5-for-10) and delivered a walk-off RBI-single in Saturday's 11-10 win over Bryant.
"He had a great start to his college career," said coach Rucker Taylor. "He was in the middle of a lot of positives for us. The offensive numbers are obvious, but he gave us competitive at-bats and was good defensively. He carried himself like a veteran player."
In the Bryant series, Manjooran hit two doubles, drove in four runs and slugged .700.
Manjooran and the Wildcats will host UNCG Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
