'Cats Debut Against Queens

DAVIDSON — Davidson's swimmers and divers kicked off the 2025-26 season Saturday, hosting Queens in Cannon Pool.
The Wildcats turned in top performances in seven events, but the biggest takeaway, said head coach John Young, was simply the experience of competing for the first time in a five-month season.
"The day was informative, as is the intent for this early competition," said Young. "I was pleased with the energy that the Wildcats offered one another and delighted to see our first-years race in Cannon Pool."
Newcomer Henry Shoemaker won two events, taking first in the 500 free (4:44.82) and 1,000 free (9:43.07).
Dylan Felt (200 free, 1:38.99) and Fletcher Smith (200 fly, 1:51.39) added wins for the Wildcat men.
For the Davidson women, Caroline Furbay swam first in the 100 free (53.54), and diver Elle Jacobsen had the top scores in the 1-meter (271.45) and 3-meter (276.00) events.
