DAVIDSON — Sib Naaktgeboren scored two goals and the Davidson field hockey team posted a 2-0 win over Longwood Friday afternoon at Belk Turf Field.
It's the Wildcats' first win over Longwood since 2012, ending a streak of 13 series losses.
Naaktgeboren, who took her season total to a team-best six goals, struck with the first goal 4:48 into the contest. The Wildcats (2-3) held that 1-0 lead throughout and held off potential tying opportunities by the Lancers until until Naaktgeboren added an insurance goal with 52 seconds to play.
Davidson held a 17-2 advantage in shots, including 15-0 in shots-on-goal, and had six corners to Longwood's one.
Naaktgeboren had six shots-on-goal, while Lourdes Wolf had three.
Longwood (1-4) was led by keeper Sophie Mooldijk, who made 13 saves.
