Teachman Breaks School Record in Javelin

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Davidson's John Teachman set a new school record in the javelin to highlight day one of competition for the men's track and field team at the Charlotte 49er Classic Friday.
A freshman from Mt. Pleasant, S.C., Teachman recorded a 61.33m (201' 2") on his fifth attempt to shatter Beaux Jones' (59.39m) program standard that stood for 17 years.
In addition, his mark was good enough for second out of 35 competitors.
Another bright spot for the Wildcats was John Cooper, who set a new personal record in the 5000m with a time of 14:47.35.
The Wildcats will wrap up their season opener tomorrow with events beginning at 9 a.m.
