Temple Holds off Davidson, 68-63

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Derrian Ford (23) and Aiden Tobiason (19) combined for 42 points and Temple held off a late Davidson charge to come away with a 68-63 victory Thursday night inside John M. Belk Arena.
The setback drops the Wildcats to 8-3 overall, while the Owls improve to 7-5.
Roberts Blums and Nick Coval were the only Davidson players in double figures with 14 and 10, respectively.
Temple, which held the 'Cats to just 23.5 percent and 1-of-13 from long range in the opening 20 minutes, scored the final nine points of the period to lead 36-23 at the half.
Facing its largest deficit of the night, 42-26, Davidson stormed back with a 15-1 run to make it a two-point game, 43-41 with nine minutes to play.
After Temple stretched the margin back to double digits, 59-48, with 3:31 left, the 'Cats had one last answer but was unable to get closer than two.
Davidson was much more efficient from the floor in the second half shooting, 57.1 percent, but finished the game going just 5-of-22 from distance.
Both teams shot 39 percent overall, while the Owls got to the line 33 times, making 26.
Despite the setback, the Wildcats held a commanding 44-30 advantage on the glass and committed just eight turnovers.
