'Cats Take First Road Trip of 2025 to Saint Louis

DAVIDSON - After finding its stride as of late, the Davidson women's basketball team will take its first road trip of the New Year when it travels to face Saint Louis 12 p.m. EST / 11 a.m. CST Sunday.

SERIES HISTORY...
The Billikens currently hold a 7-5 lead over the Wildcats in the all-time series dating back to the 'Cats entry year into the A-10. Davidson has been the victor of the last two contests. In the Wildcats' most recent win over the Billikens Charlise Dunn scored a career-high 27 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as Davidson defeated Saint Louis, 66-58 inside Belk Arena. 

Dunn, a forward from Victoria, Australia, finished 8-of-18 from the floor and 10-of-13 at the free-throw line, while playing the entire 40 minutes.

Fellow transfer and Australia native, Millie Prior also recorded a strong double-double for the 'Cats with 16 points and 10 boards, marking her fourth double-double of the season. Maddie Plank just missed a 10-point, 10-rebound effort of her own 9 and 8.

LAST TIME OUT...
In addition to a 34-8 run spanning the second and third quarters, Davidson placed six players in double figures as the Wildcats cruised past La Salle, 78-61 Thursday evening inside Belk Arena. 

Freshman Kyra Bruyndoncx led the way for Davidson with a season-high 17 points on 6-of-8 shooting. Dunn (14), Issy Morgan (13), Candice Lienafa (12), Mallorie Haines (11) and Katie Donovan (10) also cracked the 10-point plateau for the Wildcats.

PG ONE...
Sydney, Australia native and trusted starting point guard, Morgan has found her rhythm as of late, posting double-figure scoring performances in four of the last five contests, including a 20-point effort at NC State. 

Additionally, the senior guard has shot well over that time frame with a .511 percentage from the floor over those five contests, highlighted by a perfect 6-of-6 effort against UNC Pembroke and most recently 5-of-10 performance against La Salle. 

BIG MARGINS...
The Wildcats have defeated three of their last four opponents by a double-digit margin, including a season second best of 31-point win over UNC Pembroke. All told, the 'Cats have enjoyed five total double figure victories this season with a season-best +42 win versus Presbyterian. 

During its current four-game winning stint, Davidson enters the weekend holding a +81 scoring margin against its opponent. 

DEFENDING THE ARC...
Ranking second in the Atlantic 10 in opponent 3-point percentage at just .274, the Wildcats have continued to defend the arc well through 14 contests. So far this season, Davidson has surrendered just 49 total made 3-pointers, allowing its opponents to hit more than five triples only one time this season. The 'Cats have held its competitors to no made 3-pointers on two occasions this season (0-6 Presbyterian, 0-3 Charlotte). 

QUICK HANDS...
Davidsons defense proves to be a problem for its competition entering the mid-point of the season as it has forced double digit miscues in all but three games, including a season-high of 28 turnovers by Presbyterian. 

The 'Cats have prompted 20+ turnovers three separate times this season: Presbyterian (28), Charlotte (22), La Salle (21). 

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK...
For the second time this season, Davidson women's basketball forward Lienafa has been named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week. 

The freshman native of Quebec, Canada scored 12 points to go along with six rebounds, a steal, block and assist in the Wildcats' 76-70 defeat of Duquesne Sunday to open A-10 competition and earn the accolade. Lienafa connected on five of her eight shots of the afternoon in 20 minutes of action off the 'Cats bench. 

So far this season, Lienafa has seen action in all 14 contests while making five starts. The rookie has tallied nine contests in double-figure scoring, including a season-high 18 points at Cincinnati, ranking her third on the roster in scoring with 10.4 ppg as well as first on the team in shooting efficiency at .604 percent from the floor and .450 from 3-point range. Lienafa also holds the league's second-best field goal percentage.

Saint Louis is still in search of its first conference win after falling 83-63 at Rhode Island and most recently 72-55 to UMass Thursday. 

The Billikens scoring efforts are led by a quartet of players in Peyton Kennedy (15.3), Brooklyn Gray (12.4), Kennedy Calhoun (10.5) and Shun'teria Anumele (10.5). On the defensive end of the court, Tierra Simon tallies a roster-high 10.8 rebounds per game to go along with 7.1 points per contest. 

As a team, Saint Louis averages 71.1 points and 38.9 rebounds per game with shooting percentages of .393 from the field, .269 from 3-point and .825 at the foul line. Defensively, the Billikens have used 10.3 steals to force their competitors into 16.7 miscues per game.
