PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Katie Donovan had another career day and Charlise Dunn recorded a double-double as Davidson held off Duquesne, 76-70, to open Atlantic 10 play Sunday afternoon inside UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse.
The 'Cats ended the Dukes' seven-game winning streak, in addition to dealing Duquesne its first home loss, improving to 6-7 overall and 1-0 in league play.
Coming off a personal-best 24-point effort in Davidson's win over cross-county rival Charlotte eight days ago, Donovan had 25 points on 10-of-15 shooting in 37 minutes action.
In addition to 21 points of her own, Dunn grabbed a career-best 16 boards for her third double-double in a Wildcat uniform.
Candice Lienafa came off the bench to score 12 points for the 'Cats, who finished with a commanding 41-28 margin on the glass.
Tied 20-20 after the opening 10 minutes, Davidson used a 7-2 spurt early in the second quarter and closed the half with five straight capped by a Dunn triple to open up a 40-31 lead at the break.
After Duquesne shot 50 percent in the first quarter, the 'Cats turned up the pressure limiting the Dukes to just 9-of-29 (.310) combined over the second and third to take 56-44 advantage into the final frame.
Davidson would push its lead to as many as 15 late in the third quarter on a Donovan layup.
