Field Hockey Falls in Season Finale at No. 15 UMass

AMHERST, Mass. — The Davidson field hockey team's 2024 season came to a close Friday afternoon with a 4-0 loss at No. 15 UMass, as the Minutewomen wrapped up the Atlantic 10 regular season title.
Davidson (7-8) finished with seven wins for the second straight year and, with a 3-4 A-10 mark, completed its best conference performance since winning five A-10 games in 2015. Finishing fifth in the standings is also the program-best since 2015.
UMass (14-4, 7-0 A-10) was on the attack most of the day and took a 1-0 lead into the intermission after a goal by Claire Danahy with 29 seconds left in the second quarter. The Minutewomen added two goals in the third quarter and one in the fourth to close it out.
Davidson keeper MaryKate Berg made 11 saves.
