Women’s Cross Country Set for 2022 A-10 Championships

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Davidson women's cross-country team will head to Mechanicsville, Va., this weekend to compete in the 2022 Atlantic 10 Championships hosted by the University of Richmond.
The women's 5k race will take place Saturday, Oct. 29 at Pole Green Park with a scheduled start time of 10 a.m.
Davidson has competed in four events this fall, recording three Top-5 finishes, including a season-best third-place showing at the adidas Challenge hosted by NC State.
Frances Whitworth has led the Wildcats in each of their races this fall, including a 14th place finish (18:12.1) at the Royals Challenge, earning her A-10 Runner of the Week. The junior's top 5k time this season came at the Louisville Classic where she ran a 17:54.8.
Senior Natalie Abernathy has also had a solid campaign for Davidson, highlighted by a season-best 20th place showing at the adidas Challenge Sept. 17. Like Whitworth, her fastest time came earlier this month in Louisville's annual race.
Since joining the A-10 in 2014, the Wildcats have recorded three Top-5 finishes in the conference championship, including a program-best third place in 2017.
