DAVIDSON — Ball movement and balanced scoring helped the Davidson Wildcats roll past Atlantic 10 foe Fordham 79-49 Tuesday night in Belk Arena.
Nine Wildcats hit 3-pointers, and Davidson took control with an early 31-3 run that turned a 6-3 deficit into a 34-9 lead at the 5:36 mark of the first half.
It's the Wildcats' second straight home win by at least 30 points, following their 85-50 trouncing of UMass on Feb. 1.
Senior Jon Axel Gudmundsson was the catalyst, dishing out a career-best 13 assists as the Wildcats had 25 assists, one off their season high. And Davidson (12-11, 6-5 A-10) took care of the ball as well, posting a season-low four turnovers.
"When you have 27 baskets and 25 assists, that's pretty impressive," said Davidson coach Bob McKillop. "Jon's movement of the ball was the best it's been since he's been at Davidson."
Mike Jones hit four early 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 15 points, all on 3-pointers, and Davidson built a 45-20 lead at the break before stretching its lead to 64-31 with 10:48 to play.
Kellan Grady hit two treys and added 13 points, and Luka Brajkovic scored 12 points and also connected twice from long distance. All nine of Carter Collins' points came on 3-point shots, while Bates Jones hit two shots from beyond the arc and had eight points. .
Hyunjung Lee and Gudmundsson hit from deep as well, as did reserves Malcolm Wynter and Drew Dibble.
Chris Austin scored 11 as the only double-digit scorer for Fordham, which fell to 7-16 and 1-10.
