Davidson Nets 5-2 Win at Fordham to Finish Out Weekend

BRONX, N.Y. — Davidson earned its fourth league win of the season when it netted a 5-2 road victory over Fordham Sunday morning at the Hawthorn/Rooney Courts.

The Wildcats moved to 4-3 in league matches and 11-9 overall, while the Rams (2-2 A-10) fell to 8-8 overall. Both teams were playing each other for the first time in their respective program histories.

For the third time this year, the 'Cats started the match off by sweeping the doubles point. The No. 2 team of Alexandra Abele and Samantha Armas evened their A-10 record to 3-3 (11-8 overall) with a 6-3 win, while duo of Gabrielle Centenari and Nicole Krykanov won by the same score to give themselves an impressive 5-1 A-10 record and 9-4 overall.

The top team of Megan Scholvinck and Elizabeth Truluck took a 6-2 decision, their second win over the weekend and 11 overall on the season.

In singles action, Davidson took wins at No. 2, 4, 5 and 6 to secure the team win. Abele rolled to a 6-2, 6-1 triumph at No. 2 to give her a 13-7 mark on the year.

Armas continued her career season by moving to 14-5 after a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 4. Truluck prevailed 6-4, 6-1 at No. 5, pushing her record to a team-best 15-5 as a freshman.

At No. 6, Alyssa Hahn won her second in a row with a hard-fought 7-5, 6-4 victory to move her record to 4-5 on the season.

Davidson closes out the regular season with a pair of home matches, April 13 and 14, against George Washington and Dayton.
