Davidson Suffers 79-69 Setback at La Salle

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Isiah Deas (25) and Traci Carter (24) combined for 49 points to lead La Salle past Davidson, 79-69, Wednesday evening at Tom Gola Arena.
Deas, Carter and Saul Phiri hit four 3-pointers each for the Explorers, who finished 13-of-28 from long range.
La Salle (9-18, 7-8 A-10) pushed the margin back to double digits early in the second half and led by as many as 17. Davidson got to within 53-46 on a Carter Collins' triple with 10:01 to play, but was unable to get closer.
Despite the setback, Kellan Grady had 21 points for the 'Cats, while Jon Axel Gudmundsson turned in another solid all-around performance with 19 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists.
In addition to hitting seven treys in the first 20 minutes, La Salle had 11 second-chance points, 12 off turnovers and scored the last eight points of the half to lead 38-29 at the break.
The Wildcats trailed by as many as 12 at the 8:23 mark, but cut the deficit to one with 11 straight before the Explorers answered.
Luka Brajkovic also scored in double figures for Davidson with 12 points on 6-of-7 shooting.
