In a close battle with host George Washington, the Davidson women's tennis team fell in the end, 5-2, as they suffered their first Atlantic 10 setback Saturday afternoon at the Southeast Tennis and Learning Center.

The Wildcats (14-4) fell for the second time in the past three matches and dropped to 4-1 in league matches. It was also their first defeat in the six matches all-time against GW, which moved to 12-8 overall and 5-1 in A-10 action.

The 'Cats hung tough in nearly every singles match, as 11 of the 14 sets played had at least nine games played in them.

The Colonials took wins at No. 1 and 2 doubles for the early 1-0 team lead and then captured singles wins at No. 1, 2, 4 and 5 to seal up the victory.

Todd pushed her singles win streak to a season-high seven in a row when she came back from a set down to earn a 3-6, 6-0, 6-4 win at No. 6. The senior is 13-2 on the season and remained perfect all-time in A-10 matches with a 22-0 record, including a 5-0 mark this season.

At No. 4, Gabrielle Centenari saw her career-high 11-match win streak come to an end after a 6-3, 6-4 defeat. It was just her third defeat of the season and first in league play.
