FAIRFAX, Va. – Jon Axel Gudmundsson led four Davidson players in double figures with a game-high 24 points as the Wildcats cruised past George Mason, 86-59, in Atlantic 10 men's basketball Sunday afternoon at EagleBank Arena.
A sophomore from Grindavik, Iceland, Gudmundsson finished 9-of-14 from the floor, drilled 4 treys, grabbed 8 rebounds and had 4 steals.
He was joined in double digits by Peyton Aldridge (17) KiShawn Pritchett (15) and Kellan Grady (15).
As a team, the Wildcats shot 55.6 percent, including 11 3-pointers, while holding Mason (7-9, 1-2 A-10) to just 42.6 percent.
After falling behind 8-3 early, Davidson (7-7, 2-1 A-10) responded with 10 unanswered to grab the lead for good. The Wildcats used a 25-6 streak late in the first half to go ahead by 21, before heading to the break up, 45-27.
The Wildcats, who controlled the glass, 35-26, led by as many 32 on separate occasions late in the contest.
In addition, Davidson outscored Mason, 42-24, in the paint.
Otis Livingston II paced the Patriots with 20 points on 7-of-12 shooting.
