DAYTON, Ohio  — Davidson started off its two-match trip to the state of Ohio with a strong 4-0 win over host Dayton Friday night in Atlantic 10 women's tennis at the Five Seasons Sports Club.

The Wildcats ran their record to 5-1 in league play and 12-3 overall, while sending the Flyers (9-8) to their second defeat in four A-10 matches.

Grabbing an early 1-0 lead thanks to wins at No. 1 and 2 was Davidson. Leading the way were A-10 Player and Rookie of the Weeks Megan Scholvinck and Samantha Armas, who captured their fifth straight win with a 6-2 decision at No. 1. The duo moved to 10-2 on the season and remained perfect in league play at 5-0.

Anna Catharine Feaster and Ally Sexton sealed up the team point with a solid 6-1 victory at No. 2, giving them their ninth win on the season.

In singles play, the 'Cats took wins at No. 3-5 to secure the team win. Ava Todd won her team-leading sixth consecutive match and reached double digits in victories with a 6-2, 6-4 decision at No. 5. The junior moved to 10-4 on the season and 5-0 in A-10 matches.

At No. 3, Gabrielle Centenari pulled out a 6-4, 6-1 win for her eighth victory of the year and freshman Alexandra Abele cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 triumph at No. 4. The five-time league rookie of the week honoree is a team-best 13-2 now and 5-1 in A-10 action.

Davidson will wrap up its trip to Dayton, Ohio by taking on Saint Louis Sunday at 11 a.m.
