DAVIDSON, N.C.  — The Davidson women's tennis team picked up their 16th straight victory at home by securing a 4-0 Atlantic 10 win over George Mason Sunday morning at the Davidson Tennis Courts.
Â
The Wildcats moved to 4-1 in league play, while their overall record jumped to 11-3. Their home win streak is the longest in school history, topping the 13-match streak they had in 2013. The Patriots fell to 8-5 overall (0-2 A-10).
Â
The match started off by Davidson sweeping all three doubles spots for the fifth time this year. Samantha Armas and Megan Scholvinck secured a 6-4 win at No. 1 to push their win streak to four straight and their record to 9-2 with a perfect 4-0 mark in A-10 matches.
Â
Anna Catharine Feaster and Ally Sexton rolled to their eighth win of the season at No. 2 with a 6-1 triumph. Rounding the doubles out was Ava Todd and Alexandra Abele at No. 3, as the duo won 6-3 to bump their record to 12-1 overall and 4-1 in league matches.
Â
Scholvinck, Abele and Armas then finished out the win in singles action by taking straight-set victories at No. 2, 4 and 6 positions, respectively. Schovinck moved to 11-3 overall (5-0 A-10) with a 6-2, 6-2 decision.
Â
The freshmen tandem of Abele and Armas combined to give up just four games in nailing down 6-0, 6-2 and 6-1, 6-1 wins. The pair had their personal-best win streaks snapped Friday, but turned around Sunday and picked up their 12th and ninth wins, respectively, while improving to 4-1 and 3-1 in league matches.
Â
The Wildcats three singles wins moved them to 21-5 in matches against A-10 foes.
