RICHMOND, Va. – Richmond placed five players in double figures and used a 19-2 run late, to get by Davidson, 84-76, in Atlantic 10 men's basketball action Tuesday night at the Robins Center.
T.J. Cline and ShawnDre' Jones paced the Spiders with 18 points each, while Julius Johnson scored a career-high 16 off the bench, Khwan Ford had 13 and De'Monte Buckingham added 10.
In addition to opening the second half on a 15-5 spurt highlighted by three 3-pointers from Aldridge, Davidson (14-12, 7-8 A-10) took its first lead, 54-53, on a Rusty Reigel jumper with 13:40 to play.
After the Wildcats went up by as many as five, 65-60, Richmond (16-11, 10-5 A-10) responded with its game-changing streak.
Despite the loss, Peyton Aldridge recorded his second straight and 10th career double-double with 27 points and 13 rebounds, while going 10-of-19 from the floor, including five 3-pointers.
Jon Axel Gudmundsson (15), Jack Gibbs (12) and KiShawn Pritchett (11) also scored in double digits for the Wildcats, who drilled 14-of-32 from behind the arc.
Richmond, which shot 60.4 percent, broke an 8-8 tie with seven straight points and stretched the margin to 45-35 at the half with Johnson's third trey of the period.
Davidson held a 29-24 edge on the glass, but the Spiders turned 12 miscues into 18 points at the other end.
The Wildcats shot 49.1 percent overall and assisted on 21 of 28 field goals.
