DAVIDSON, N.C. – Jack Gibbs (31), Brian Sullivan (19) and Peyton Aldridge (18) combined for 68 points to lead Davidson to an 87-80 victory over George Washington in Atlantic 10 men's basketball action Saturday at Belk Arena.
The Wildcats, who earned the sixth seed in next week's Atlantic 10 Tournament, shot 55.9 percent from the floor.
In addition to hitting the 30-point plateau for the 10th time this season, Gibbs finished 11-of-23 from the floor, 8-of-10 at the free-throw line and had a career-high six steals.
After the Colonials opened the second half with four straight points to go up, 44-42, Davidson (18-11, 10-8 A-10) responded with a 13-3 run to take the lead for good.
Yuta Wantanbe and Patricio Garino led George Washington (22-9, 11-7 A-10) with 22 points each, while Tyler Cavanaugh added 16 and Kevin Larsen had 10 points and 12 rebounds for his 20th career double-double.
The first half featured seven ties and 12 lead changes before the Wildcats closed the period on an 11-4 spurt to take a 42-39 advantage into the break.
George Washington finished with a 41-28 advantage on the glass and shot 47.5 percent.
