PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Jack Gibbs scored 25 points and Brian Sullivan added 22 to pace five Davidson players in double figures as the Wildcats defeated Duquesne, 93-82, in A-10 men's basketball action Saturday at the Palumbo Center.
Nathan Ekwu added a career-high 14 points, while Rusty Reigel and Jordan Barham scored 10 each for Davidson (13-8, 5-5 A-10), which finished with a 52-40 advantage on the glass, including a season-high 21 offensive rebounds.
Peyton Aldridge led both teams with 11 rebounds.
In addition to 21 second-chance points, the Wildcats scored 21 points off 13 turnovers, while handing out 22 assists on 32 field goals.
Davidson drilled 7 treys in the opening period and got 18 points from Gibbs before going to the break up, 48-35. The Wildcats also turned nine Duquesne (15-8, 5-5 A-10) turnovers into 14 points in the half.
Like Davidson, the Dukes had a pair of 20-point scorers, led by Derrick Colter's 22. Micah Mason finished with 21, while L.G. Gill and Mar-Qywell Jackson scored 16 and 13, respectively.
The Wildcats, who led by as many as 19 in the second half, shot just 42.1 percent overall, but drilled 12-of-26 from behind the 3-point line.
In two games at the Palumbo Center, Davidson is a combined 32-of-62 from long range. A year ago, the Wildcats hit a school-record 20.
