Aldridge Hits 1,000-Point Plateau; Leads 'Cats Past Jacksonville

DAVIDSON, N.C. – In addition to becoming the 49th player in school history to hit the 1,000-point plateau, Peyton Aldridge scored a game-high 29 points to lead Davidson past Jacksonville, 75-60, Wednesday evening at Belk Arena.
A junior from Leavittsburg, Ohio, Aldridge finished 11-of-15 from the floor en route to his seventh 20-point outing of the season. The preseason all-conference selection also recorded 9 rebounds and 5 assists in 38 minutes of action.
Jack Gibbs added 22 points (6 3-pointers), 5 assists and 4 steals, while backcourt mate Jon Axel Gudmundsson scored 10 points to go along with 7 assists, 6 rebounds and 2 steals.
After Darien Fernandez opened the second half with consecutive 3-pointers to put Jacksonville (9-5) up, 38-32, the Wildcats responded with a 32-7 burst to take control and put the game out of reach.
Davidson (6-4), which shot 57.7 percent after intermission and finished with 11 treys, stretched the margin to as many as 22 with under five minutes to play.
Darius Dawkins paced three Dolphins in double figures with 13 points.
Junior Will Magarity also turned in a solid performance for Davidson with 8 rebounds and 4 blocks.
The Wildcats held JU to just 36.2 percent from the floor and finished with a 40-33 advantage on the glass.

Davidson will continue its season-long homestand Dec. 28 with a 7 p.m. tip against Hartford at Belk Arena.
