Wildcats Hit 21 Treys in Exhibition Win over Belmont Abbey

DAVIDSON, N.C. -- Davidson drilled 21 3-pointers and Oskar Michelsen paced four players in double figures with 20 points as the Wildcats defeated Belmont Abbey, 104-58, in an exhibition contest Friday evening at Belk Arena.
Michelsen, who finished 7-of-12 from the floor, including six triples, was joined in double digits by Jordan Watkins (19), Jon Axel Gudmundsson (13) and Nathan Ekwu (10).
In addition to going 21-of-41 from deep, the Wildcats shot 52.2 percent overall, while holding the Crusaders to just 29.8 percent.
Davidson, which drained 12 first-half treys, raced out to an 11-0 lead before going to the break up, 49-25.
The Wildcats stretched the margin to as many as 52 on an Andrew McAuliffe bucket with 1:45 to play.
Dexter Clark led the way for Belmont Abbey with 17 points.
Davidson got 49 points from its bench, while finishing with a 44-30 advantage on the glass.

The Wildcats will tip-off the 2016-17 season on Saturday, November 12 at 8 p.m. against former Southern Conference rival Appalachian State on McKillop Court. Former Davidson associate head coach Jim Fox coaches the Mountaineers.
