PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Brian Sullivan scored a game-high 28 points and Davidson closed on a 13-4 run to defeat La Salle, 77-69, in Atlantic 10 men's basketball action Saturday at Tom Gola Arena.
Coming off a 19-point performance in which he scored his 1,000th career point, Sullivan drilled four of the Wildcats' 10 3-pointers, finished 12-of-17 from the line and handed out five assists in 39 minutes of action.
Jordan Barham and Tyler Kalinoski, who scored 18 and 16 points, respectively, joined Sullivan in double figures. Barham also grabbed nine rebounds for the 'Cats, who held a 31-29 edge on the glass and finished with 22 second-chance points.
In a second half that featured 10 lead changes and four ties, Kalinoski's trey with 3:30 to play sparked the game-ending spurt and put Davidson (17-6, 8-4 A-10) up for good. In addition to late free throws by Sullivan, Jordan Watkins provided a key steal and pull up jumper in the closing minutes.
Despite finishing just 13-of-22 from the charity stripe, the Wildcats shot 50.9 percent against one of the league's top defensive teams.
Davidson, which shot 57.7 percent including six treys in the first half, led by as many as eight in the period on separate occasions before going to the break up, 39-35.
La Salle (14-11, 6-6 A-10) finished with a 47.3 percent clip, but went just 4-of-17 from long range.
Jordan Price paced the Explorers with 22 points. Jerrell Wright (15), Cleon Roberts (12) and Steve Zack (11) also hit the 10-point plateau for La Salle.
