Wildcats Fall to Pitt in Gotham Classic Showcase

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Michael Young scored 22 points and Pittsburgh shot 54.5 percent as the Panthers defeated Davidson, 94-69, in the Gotham Classic Showcase Game Sunday afternoon at Madison Square Garden.
In addition to shooting 56.7 percent in the second half, Pitt (9-1) finished with a 52-31 advantage on the glass.
James Robinson (15), Sterling Smith (12) and Chris Jones (12) also finished in double figures for the Panthers, who hit 9-of-20 3-pointers.
Despite the loss, Jack Gibbs and Peyton Aldridge paced the Wildcats with 21 and 19 points, respectively.
Pittsburgh closed the first half on a 27-9 run to erase a six-point deficit and take a 50-38 lead into the break. The Wildcats jumped out to a 10-4 advantage and led by as many as seven in the opening period.
The Panthers started the second half 10-of-14 from the floor and eventually stretched the margin to as many as 28.
Davidson (7-2) struggled offensively shooting just 34.8 percent, which included a 6-of-30 effort from long range.
