DAVIDSON, N.C. – Brian Sullivan paced five Davidson players in double figures with 20 points and Jack Gibbs added a double-double (17 pts, 12 rebs) as the Wildcats cruised past Western Carolina, 87-54, in their second game of the 2015 Gotham Classic Saturday at Belk Arena.
In addition to hitting the 20-point plateau for the fourth time in the last five games, Sullivan drilled six 3-pointers for the second straight outing. Peyton Aldridge (17), Jordan Barham (12) and Oskar Michelsen (11) also hit double digits for the Wildcats.
Off to a 7-1 start for the second consecutive season, Davidson shot 47.5 percent, while holding the Catamounts to just 26.6 percent.
Gibbs also handed out a game-high 6 assists to go along with his career night on the boards.
The Wildcats had four players with at least 6 rebounds each, while controlling the glass, 47-40.
Davidson, which got 14 points and 10 rebounds from Gibbs in the opening half, used a pair of lengthy first-half runs to take a 39-24 lead into the break. The Wildcats went on a 16-4 streak early in the period and closed on a 16-6 spurt, capped off by a Sullivan trey at the buzzer.
Mike Brown and Justin Browning were the lone players in double figures for the Catamounts (3-6) with 15 and 10 points, respectively. The duo also pulled down 9 rebounds each.

Following the exam break, Davidson will take on Pittsburgh at Madison Square Garden in the Gotham Classic Showcase Game on Sunday, Dec. 20. The game will tip at 12 p.m. and be televised nationally on ESPNU.
