DAVIDSON, N.C. – In a game that featured 19 lead changes and 11 ties, Davidson's Peyton Aldridge hit a pair free throws with 4.1 seconds left to lift the Wildcats over College of Charleston, 82-81, in non-conference men's basketball Saturday at Belk Arena.

A sophomore from Leavittsburg, Ohio, Aldridge paced four Davidson (2-0) players in double figures with 21 points on 9-of-15 shooting. Fellow tri-captains Jack Gibbs and Brian Sullivan scored 18 and 16, respectively, while Jordan Barham added 10.

Down 81-80 with five seconds remaining, Aldridge tracked down a missed Sullivan jumper and was fouled on his put back attempt, setting up the game-winning free throws.

The Cougars' Marquise Pointer missed a 3-pointer as time expired.

Canyon Barry scored a game-high 31 points to pace College of Charleston (2-1), which opened the second half on a 14-4 run, capped off by a Barry trey, to go up 56-54, with 16:39 to play.

After both teams shot just under 60 percent in the opening half, Davidson finished the game at 49.1 percent (28-57), while the Cougars shot 50.8 percent (32-63).

In addition, the Wildcats hit 10 long range jumpers and went 16-of-24 at the charity stripe.

Trailing 36-35 with four minutes left in the first half, Davidson went on a 15-6 streak, highlighted by three 3-pointers, including two from Sullivan, to push the margin to 50-42. A Jake Belford putback at the buzzer gave the Wildcats a 52-45 lead at the break.

College of Charleston finished with a 44-27 advantage on the glass.

Cameron Johnson (13) and Payton Hulsey (10) also hit the 10-point plateau for Charleston.
