FAIRFAX, Va. – Davidson erased a six-point deficit in the final seconds, including a 3-pointer by Brian Sullivan as time expired, and the Wildcats finished the comeback in overtime with an 80-73 victory at George Mason Saturday at the Patriot Center.

After Oskar Michelsen buried a trey with 13 seconds remaining to make it 65-62, the Patriots' Jalen Jenkins missed a pair of free throws setting up Sullivan's game-tying triple.

Sparked by a Peyton Aldridge tip-in and layup from Jordan Watkins, the Wildcats opened the extra session with five straight points and didn't allow Mason closer than three the rest of the way.

The seventh Wildcat to hit the 20-point plateau this season, Michelsen led three Davidson (14-4, 5-2 A-10) players in double figures with 20 in 28 minutes off the bench. Tyler Kalinoski added 18 points, eight rebounds and four assists before fouling out late in regulation, while Sullivan had 17 points and five assists.

George Mason (6-12, 1-5 A-10), which trailed by as many as 11 on separate occasions, used a 15-4 streak midway through the second half to tie the score 49-49. The Wildcats responded with a small run of their own highlighted by seven straight from Kalinoski, to go back in front, 56-51, with 7:35 remaining.

The Patriots had another answer as they went on a 14-3 spurt to grab a 65-59 lead, their first since the opening minutes.

Marquise Moore led George Mason with 18 points, while Shevon Thompson recorded his ninth double-double scoring 15 points and pulling down a game-high 15 boards. Isaiah Jackson also added double digits for the Patriots with 11 points.

Despite shooting just 36 percent after intermission to finish at 44.6 percent, Davidson made 21-of-30 free throws, including 9-of-12 in overtime.

The Wildcats broke a 25-25 deadlock with a 13-2 run to go up 38-27 before going to the half with a 38-31 advantage. Prior to Myles Tate's three at the buzzer, Davidson held Mason without a field goal for almost seven minutes in the period.

The Patriots shot only 40.9 percent from the floor, but held a 43-35 margin on the glass.

Davidson will enjoy a week break before returning to the hardwood Saturday with a noon tip at Saint Joseph's.
