GREENVILLE, S.C. —
Playing its final road match of the regular season, Davidson came out on the short end of a 5-2 decision at No. 63 Furman Thursday afternoon in women's Southern Conference tennis action.

The Wildcats (7-16, 2-6 SoCon) played their fourth ranked opponent of the season. Furman moved to 16-5 overall and finished a perfect 9-0 in league play.

Elaina Cummer and Nisha Crouser each scored singles wins for Davidson's two team points. Cummer won her ninth match of the season with a straight-set 7-5, 6-4 victory at No. 2. It was also her third SoCon win.

Crouser improved to 8-14 on the season after she won a super tie-breaker for the third set, 10-8. Since the team match was decided, the senior, who split her first two sets, 4-6, 6-0, played a super tie-breaker to determine the singles match.

Also playing a super tie-breaker in the last set was Brites Moniz-Soares. The senior fell 7-5 in her first set, but came back for a 6-4 victory to force the super tie-breaker. Moniz-Soares' day ended there with a 10-7 defeat in the tie-breaker.

Furman took the doubles point to open the match with an 8-5 win at No. 1 and a pair of 8-1 decisions at No. 2 and 3.

Davidson wraps up the regular season and SoCon play with a 1 p.m. match at home against UNCG for Senior Day Saturday, April 12.
