Gibbs and Kalinoski Lead 'Cats to 95-69 Win at UCF

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Jack Gibbs scored a career-high 37 points, Tyler Kalinoski added a personal best 25 and Davidson torched the nets for 53.6 percent, including 13 3-pointers as the Wildcats cruised to a 95-69 victory over UCF Wednesday evening at CFE Arena.
Gibbs (15-of-17) and Kalinoski (9-of-15) combined to go 24-for-32 from the floor and drilled 10 3-pointers (5 each), while leading Davidson (3-1) to a convincing 42-26 advantage on the glass with six and eight boards, respectively. Freshman Nathan Ekwu also contributed double figures for the 'Cats with 11 points off the bench.
The win was the 475th of head coach Bob McKillop's 26-year career on the Davidson bench.
Davidson, which entered the contest ranked fourth in 3-pointers made per contest, shot 58.8 percent in the final stanza, including 9-of-19 from downtown.
In addition to 22 first-half points from Gibbs on 9-of-10 shooting, the Wildcats went on a 14-4 run late in the period to go up by 11, before taking a 45-38 lead into the break.
Davidson opened the second half on an 18-8 streak and stretched the margin to as many as 29, 92-63, with under five minutes to play on an Ekwu dunk.
Like the Wildcats, UCF (3-1) had three players in double digits, led by Daiquan Walker's 15 points.
The Knights shot 45.9 percent overall, but finished just 4-of-22 from behind the arc.
After UCF cut the deficit to 14 with 11:17 to play, the Wildcats responded with a 17-5 spurt capped off by three straight triples from Kalinoski, who poured in 21 points in the second half.
Following the Thanksgiving Holiday, Davidson will host in-state foe UNC Wilmington on Saturday at 2 p.m.
