ASHEVILLE, N.C. – In addition to drilling 13 3-pointers and shooting 56 percent, top-seeded Davidson placed five players in double figures as the Wildcats cruised past Georgia Southern, 86-59, in the quarterfinals of the 2013 Southern Conference Men's Basketball Tournament Saturday at the U.S. Cellular Center.

It was the 450th win for head coach Bob McKillop, and 15th straight for Davidson (24-7), which hasn't lost since the Eagles defeated them 70-57 in Statesboro on Jan. 14.

The Wildcats will play No. 4 Appalachian State in tomorrow's first semifinal contest at 6 p.m.

Nik Cochran paced Davidson with 18 points, including five treys to go along with a game-high seven assists. Tyler Kalinoski added 14 points off the bench, De'Mon Brooks had 13, while Jake Cohen and Chris Czerapowicz finished with 12 and 10, respectively.

The Wildcats were just as impressive at the defensive end holding Georgia Southern (14-19) to just 38.3 percent (18-47) shooting.

Marvin Baynham and Cleon Roberts led the Eagles with 13 points each.

Davidson opened 8-of-10 from the floor including five buckets from long range to take a 24-13 lead midway through the first half. After the Eagles scored five unanswered to make it a five-point game, 24-19, the Wildcats closed the final eight minutes of the period on a 21-3 run capped off by four of its 10 first-half 3-pointers to take a 45-22 advantage at the break.

The 'Cats torched the nets for 60.9 percent (14-23), including 10-of-17 from behind the arc in the first 20 minutes.

Davidson, which led by as many as 31, finished with 20 assists on 28 field goals and held a 29-28 edge on the glass.
