ASHEVILLE, N.C. – De'Mon Brooks led four Davidson players in double figures with a game-high 24 points as the Wildcats won their second straight and 12th Southern Conference Men's Basketball Tournament Championship with a 74-55 victory over College of Charleston Monday evening at the U.S. Cellular Center.

Brooks, who was named tournament MVP for the second straight season, finished 9-of-14 from the floor, while grabbing eight rebounds. Davidson (26-7) extended the nation's longest winning streak to 17 straight, getting double figures from JP Kuhlman (14), Jake Cohen (12) and Nik Cochran (10).

Brooks and Cohen were named to the SoCon All-Tournament first team, while Kuhlman and Cochran received second-team honors.

Andrew Lawrence led College of Charleston (24-11) with 19 points and Adjehi Baru scored 11.

The Cougars reeled off six unanswered early in the second half to make it a six-point game, but wouldn't get any closer as Davidson put the game out of reach with a 16-4 streak to extend its advantage to 20, 72-52, with just under three minutes to play.

In addition to shooting 66.7 percent in the second half to finish the game at 54.9 percent, the Wildcats held College of Charleston to just 29.8 percent.

The Wildcats scored the first seven points of the contest and later used a 10-2 run midway through the opening half to stretch their lead to 24-12 at the 7:53 mark. After the Cougars cut the double-digit deficit to five, 31-26, Davidson closed the period with consecutive jumpers from Chris Czerapowicz and Kuhlman to go into the half up 35-26.

It marks the seventh time under head coach Bob McKillop the Wildcats have advanced to the NCAA Tournament.
