• The Wildcats open a three-game road stretch at cross-county rival Charlotte Saturday night.
• The Wildcats are 16-5 in their last 21 games, dating back to last season. Davidson is coming off an 87-83 home loss to Vanderbilt in Belk Arena Wednesday night.
• The Wildcats are off to their best start since the 2008-09 season, when they began the campaign 8-1.
• Davidson is 2-1 on the road this season. The Wildcats have never won in Halton Arena (0-6).
• Davidson returns seven of its top eight scorers and four starters from last season. Players who accounted for 81 percent of the team's scoring and 87 percent of the team's rebounding are back in uniform this year.
• JP Kuhlman and Jake Cohen were selected preseason All-SoCon by the league's coaches. Both players have been starters for the bulk of their careers.
• Kuhlman is 75 points away from 1,000 for his career, and Cohen is 80 points shy.
• The 'Cats, who have posted nine straight winning seasons, were picked to win the SoCon South Division in the league's Coaches and Media Polls.
• Following tonight's game, the 'Cats have an eight-day break for exams.
• Charlotte has won its last three contests and is coming off a 57-49 victory at Radford Tuesday night.
• This is just the third home game of the season for the 49ers, who are 1-1 at home.
• Charlotte has four starters and seven lettermen back from last season's 10-20 team. The 49ers were picked 11th in the Preseason A-10 Coaches Poll but Jeff Goodman of CBS Sportsline tabbed Charlotte sixth in his preseason predictions.
Series History
• Tonight's meeting between Davidson and the 49ers is the 38th overall and 31st Hornets' Nest Trophy Game.
• Charlotte leads the series, which began in 1979, 26-11 and is 20-10 in the Hornets' Nest Trophy Game. The 49ers have won 10 of the last 13 meetings in the series.
• Davidson coach Bob McKillop is 7-17 against the 49ers.
• The schools renewed the series last season after a two-year hiatus.
• Last Time: Davidson shot 55.2 percent from the field in the second half while Brendan McKillop led three Wildcat scorers in double figures with 21 points to give the Wildcats an 82-68 victory over Charlotte in Belk Arena.
• McKillop matched his season-high point total behind 7-of-12 shooting from beyond-the-arc. Jake Cohen finished just one rebound shy of his third consecutive double-double, scoring 19 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the field and converting all six free throw attempts. JP Kuhlman was also perfect at the free throw line, going 4-for-4 and hit 6-of-16 field goal attempts to total 18 points. He also added seven rebounds, three assists and three steals.
• Derrio Green led three Charlotte scorers in double-figures with 16 points and added seven boards, three assists and three steals. Chris Braswell led the 49ers on the glass with nine rebounds and scored 15 points.
• Davidson finished shooting at 45.9 percent (28-of-61) for the game and converted 12-of-29 three-pointers (41.4 percent). The 'Cats held Charlotte to 38.9 percent (21-of-54) from the field and 36.4 percent from beyond-the-arc.
• After leading by just one at halftime, a 12-3 run keyed by Kuhlman gave the Wildcats their first double-digit lead at 46-36 with 13:40 remaining in the second half.
• Davidson extended the lead to as much as 19 points (68-49) with 4:05 remaining after going on an 11-2 run. The 49ers cut the lead to 10 with an 11-2 run of their own to trail 60-70 with 2:10 remaining, but Davidson converted 9-of-10 from the charity stripe down the stretch en route to the final 82-68 margin.
• Last Time in Halton: Davidson's Stephen Curry scored 32 points, but Charlotte's Leemire Goldwire went for 34 as the 49ers posted a 75-68 victory in the last meeting, which took place in Halton Arena.
• Twelve of Goldwire's points came in the game's final 3:30 to help Charlotte reclaim the Hornets' Nest Trophy.
• Curry was 9-for-19 from the field and 7-for-14 from 3-point range, while Goldwire went 10-of-23 from the floor and 9-of-20 from long distance.
• With Charlotte leading 70-68 and under a minute to play, Goldwire nailed a triple from the wing to make the margin 73-68 with 33 seconds left. Davidson missed a couple chances on its trip down the floor, and An'Juan Wilderness came away with the rebound and was fouled.
• Jason Richards posted his sixth career double-double with 11 points and 12 assists. Boris Meno had nine points and 13 rebounds, and Thomas Sander finished with seven points and matched his career high with 14 boards.
• Wilderness finished with 12 points and four assists.

• The Wildcats rank third in the nation in team free-throw percentage (.797).
• Davidson has made 20 or more free throws in four games this season.
• Davidson hit all of its free throws (14-for-14) against Duke Nov. 18, for the first time since 2008 (Appalachian State, 6-for-6).
• The Wildcats have led at halftime in seven games this season.
• Davidson did not give up a 3-pointer at UNCW Nov. 26 (0-for-3).

• JP Kuhlman was named SoCon Player of the Week Nov. 29, after scoring 21 points to lead Davidson to a 70-67 victory at UNC Wilmington.
• Jake Cohen was named SoCon Player of the Week Dec. 6, after averaging 21 points and six boards in a pair of league wins over Wofford and Furman.

• Jake Cohen is 60 blocked shots away from breaking the school record. Frank Ben-Eze needs 25 to crack the top-10.
• Cohen needs 80 points for 1,000, and 189 rebounds to crack the top-20.
