CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte 49ers put four players in double figures, led by Chris Braswell's 19 points, and shot 69.2 percent in the second half in breaking open a close contest for an 84-61 victory over Davidson on Saturday night at Halton Arena.

The 49ers (6-2) used a 21-8 run in the first nine minutes of the second half to turn a 31-30 halftime deficit into a 51-39 lead with a little less than 12 minutes remaining in the game. Javarris Barnett led the charge with three triples during the run, and the 49ers hit four as a team.

Davidson (6-3) also put four players in double figures, led by JP Kuhlman's 13 points to go with seven boards. Nik Cochran chipped in with 12, and Tyler Kalinoski and Clint Mann each had 10 off the bench.

Barnett finished with 15 points, all from behind the arc. Besides his 19 points, Braswell added 10 boards for a double-double. Pierria Henry and Victor Nickerson rounded out the quartet of double-figure scorers with 10 points apiece.

The Wildcats were held to just 35.6 percent shooting for the game and turned the ball over 19 times, which helped Charlotte score 19 fast-break points.

Up 31-30 after rattling off a 10-4 run to close the first half, Davidson saw Charlotte use a quick 9-0 spurt to open the new stanza to regain the lead at 39-31. Seven of those points came from the charity stripe.

Cochran got the 'Cats on the board with a trey, but Barnett continued the big run to open the new period with three triples. The 49ers hit four of their first five shots from behind the arc and finished the game 9-for-23.

The lead grew to 67-51 on a three-point play from Nickerson with under five minutes to go. Davidson got no closer than 12 (71-59) on a triple from Kalinoski with 2:40 left, before Charlotte finished off the game on a 13-2 run.

The first half was a back-and-forth struggle for both squads. The first four minutes saw the teams combined to shoot just 3-for-16 with seven turnover.  The 'Cats missed nine of their first 10 shots until Kuhlman hit back-to-back jumpers, including a triple, to make it 9-5 in Charlotte's favor.

Davidson continued to battle, tying the score four ties throughout the half at 11, 15, 21 and 26. Down 26-21, the Wildcats used a 10-4 run to close the half up one at 31-30. They took their first lead at 28-27 on a pair of free throws from Clint Mann at the 1:24 mark.

Davidson takes a nine-day break before continuing its three-game road swing with a trip to No. 13 Kansas, Dec. 19, for a 9 p.m. tip-off.

GAME NOTES:  Davidson falls to 0-7 in Halton Arena… Charlotte wins the Hornets' Nest Trophy for the first time since 2007… The 49ers have won 11 of the last 14 meetings in the series.
