DAVIDSON, N.C. -
Jacksonville quarterback Josh McGregor completed 26 passes for a career-high 405 yards and six touchdowns to lead the Dolphins to a 42-15 Pioneer Football League victory over Davidson Saturday afternoon at Richardson Stadium.

Davidson quarterback Jonathan Carkhuff completed 16 passes for 179 yards and a touchdown, and Chris Cochrane came off the bench to complete all four passes he threw for 55 yards and a score.

Josh Yost led the receiving corps with 58 yards on three catches for the Wildcats (1-3, 1-1 PFL), and Michael Blanchard had four receptions for 35 yards and a TD.

Josh Philpart led the Dolphins (3-1, 1-0 PFL) with nine catches for 107 yards and two touchdowns, and Elliott Finkley had 121 yards and a touchdown on three receptions. J.J. Laster rushed 17 times for 136 yards.

Jacksonville roared to a 21-0 lead as McGregor racked up 270 yards on 14-for-19 passing in the first half. McGregor hit Philpart with a 13-yard touchdown pass with 1:12 to play in the first quarter, and the pair connected again on a 5-yard pass for the Dolphins' second score with 9:11 remaining in the second quarter.

McGregor threw his third touchdown pass of the day, finding Elliott Finkley who took it to the end zone for an 84-yard score with 5:46 left in the half.

Davidson was forced to punt on its first four possessions, and the defense helped the 'Cats catch a break before the half. McGregor dropped back to pass but was tripped up by his own man and fumbled. John Behm recovered it at the Davidson 35-yard line.

Carkhuff hit Josh Wiggins with a 24-yard pass, and a defensive holding penalty helped move the ball to the Dolphins' 31-yard line. Ben Behrendt kicked a 48-yard field goal with one second on the clock to make the margin 21-3 at halftime.

Jacksonville was forced to punt in the opening drive of the second half, and Davidson picked up a first down on a 13-yard rush by Justin Williams. But Mike Mayoral got in for a sack, forced a Carkhuff fumble and recovered it at the Davidson 45. McGregor hit Larry Thompson for a 13-yard touchdown pass five plays later for a 28-3 cushion.

The margin grew to 35-3 when Davidson got its first touchdown of the game, an 8-yard pass from Carkhuff to Wiggins. The play was set up by a 42-yard completion from Carkhuff to Yost. The 'Cats went for two and did not get it, making the margin 35-9.

With Jacksonville leading 42-9, Davidson scored its second touchdown, as Cochrane hooked up with Blanchard on a 10-yard pass with six seconds left in the game. Cochrane's touchdown drive included four Wildcat first downs, and the score was set up by his 29-yard pass to Ben Sarver.

The Wildcats have a week off before hosting defending PFL champion Butler Saturday, Oct. 9. Kickoff is set for noon at Richardson Stadium.

Game Notes: Behrendt's field goal was the longest of his career and four yards shy of the school record… The Dolphins and Wildcats have played every season since the inception of Jacksonville's program in 1998… Wiggins' touchdown reception was the first of his career… McGregor's six TD passes matched a career high.
