Layup Line
• Davidson finishes play at the Honda Puerto Rico Tip-Off Sunday afternoon when the Wildcats take on Western Kentucky.
• The game will be televised live on ESPNU with Doug Sherman, Mark Gottfried and Andy Katz calling the action.
• This is the second time the 'Cats have played in an in-season tournament in San Juan. Davidson went 1-2 there in 1988, posting a win over Texas State and losing to S.C. State and Villanova.
• The Wildcats are in the midst of a stretch where they play their first five and 10 of their first 13 games away from home. It's the most games away from home to start a season in coach Bob McKillop's 22 years at Davidson.
• Davidson returns eight lettermen and three starters from last year's squad, which posted a 16-15 record and an 11-7 mark in the Southern Conference South Division, good for third place. Four of the Wildcats' top six scorers are back.
• The Wildcats have 10 underclassman on the team (six freshman, four sophomores) and feature just one senior and four juniors.
• The 'Cats are coming off a 70-67 victory over Nebraska Friday.
• Davidson was picked to finish third in the SoCon South Division again this season, while Western Kentucky, which won 21 games last season, was picked first in the East Division of the Sun Belt.
• The Hilltoppers are coming off a 62-60 win over Hofstra Friday. They overcame a 14-point deficit in the last five minutes to earn the win.
• The Hilltoppers' leading scorers, Steffphon Pettigrew and Sergio Kerusch, were both named to the preseason All-Sun Belt team, and Kerusch was the preseason pick for Player of the Year.
• Davidson coach Bob McKillop is 16 wins shy of his 400th career victory.
Series History
• The Wildcats and Hilltoppers have played just once, a 103-81 Western Kentucky home win in 1978.
Last Time Out
• Jake Cohen scored 15 first-half points, and Brendan McKillop netted 15 in the second frame, including four 3-pointers, to lead Davidson to a 70-67 victory over Nebraska.
• Cohen finished the contest with 19 points and five rebounds, and McKillop hit six triples on his way to a game-high 21 points and added five assists. JP Kuhlman posted 11 points, five assists and six rebounds, and De'Mon Brooks contributed 11 points and nine rebounds off the bench.
• A McKillop triple gave Davidson a seven-point cushion, its largest of the game, with 7:28 to play. The Huskers trimmed the deficit to one point on a Jeter jumper with 1:01 to go.
• After Tom Droney and Drake Beranek traded two free throws, Nebraska was forced to foul trailing by a point with 28 seconds left. Cohen made 1-of-2 from the line, and the Wildcats forced a turnover. McKillop then hit a free throw for a 3-point lead and Eshaunte Jones missed a triple on the other end.
• JP Kuhlman hit a pair from the charity stripe for a 69-65 cushion with four seconds to go, but Jeter knocked down a long 3-pointer with two seconds left. Droney went 1-for-2 from the line with 0.7 remaining, and the Huskers' 70-foot desperation heave to tie the game was wide left.
Leftovers from Nebraska
• It was the first time Nebraska and Davidson have met on the hardwood.
• Davidson improved to 53-69 all-time in in-season tournaments.
• McKillop scored 20-plus points for the third time in his career and needs three triples to move into 10th on Davidson's career 3-pointer chart.
