DAVIDSON, N.C. — The first place Davidson women's basketball team looks to continue its school-record start in Southern Conference play when it plays host to Georgia Southern on Saturday at John M. Belk Arena.

Davidson has won its first six league games to open SoCon play, and dating back to the last two regular season games, have won eight straight, which is the longest streak in the SoCon.

The Opening Tip
The Wildcats (7-8, 6-0 SoCon), in the midst of playing their third game in the past four at home, will host Georgia Southern (9-6, 4-2 SoCon) on Saturday, Jan. 10 at 2 p.m.

The All-Time Series/Last Meeting
The series has Davidson within one of tying it, as it trails 17-16 after sweeping last year's two-game season series. The 'Cats have had the Eagles number lately, winning the past 10 meetings, including five straight at John M. Belk Arena.

In their last meeting back on Feb. 28, senior Mercedes Robinson tallied a double-double on the strength of 23 points and 10 rebounds to guide the 'Cats to a 66-53 road win. She has tallied two double-doubles in her career vs. GSU.

Scouting the Wildcats
•Davidson ran its school-best start in Southern Conference play to a perfect 6-0 after escaping with a 61-55 overtime affair at UNC Greensboro on Monday to start the week.
•Dating back to last year, the 'Cats have won their last eight straight regular-season league games.
•The Wildcats, 4-1 in home contests this year, have won 24 of their last 29 games at John Belk Arena.
•Robinson had another monster game on Monday with a 17-point and 17-rebound effort in the win vs. UNCG. She recorded a double-double in the second half alone with 15 points and 12 rebounds to keep the Wildcats close.
•The 17 rebounds were a new personal-high for the senior, with 15 of them coming on the defense.
•Robinson garnered her second SoCon Player of the Week honor, Jan. 6. She's on a four-game double-double streak and has eight on the year. Robinson is also averaging a double-double against league opponents, 15.5 ppg and 11.8 rpg.
•Since not putting a single player in double digits in points at South Carolina, Nov. 24, Davidson has put at least one player in double figures in the last 11 games, with 5 of them having at least one 20-pt. scorer.
•Davidson has four players averaging double digits in points against league opponents, led by Alex Thompson's 18.2 points per game.
•Thompson is fresh off being the second Wildcat in program history to earn a Player of the Month honor after being chosen for the month of December.
•Thompson recently had a 36-game assist streak halted where she dished out at least one assist in a contest. She was not credited with one vs. UNC Greensboro, but still has a SoCon-best 64 on the year.
Ashley Lax, 7th in the league in scoring at 12.1 ppg, saw her consecutive made free throw streak come to an at 22 straight after a miss on Monday at UNCG.

•Prior to the loss vs. Samford, the Eagles were coming off a thrilling 66-65 win over Chattanooga, Jan. 3. Chattanooga led by one point with 21 seconds left, but a jumper from the wing by Jamie Navarro gave the Eagles the one-point win.
