Today's Game
• Davidson plays its home opener and Pioneer Football League opener as the Wildcats host Jacksonville on Homecoming.
• The Wildcats are 6-2 in their last eight home openers with two of those wins coming against Jacksonville (2000, 36-7; 2002, 28-10).
• Davidson is coming off its bye week. The Wildcats posted a hard-fought 20-16 victory at Lenoir-Rhyne Sept. 13.
• Jacksonville is making its third trip to North Carolina this season. The Dolphins lost 56-7 at Appalachian State and are coming off a 22-21 setback at UNC Pembroke last Saturday.
• UNC Pembroke is the lone common opponent for Davidson and Jacksonville so far this season. Davidson lost 21-9 at UNCP?in the season opener Sept. 6. Trailing 21-3, the Braves scored 19 points in 19 minutes to defeat the Dolphins.
• It's Homecoming for Davidson, which plays four of its first five games on the road to start the year.
Series Record
• The all-time series, which dates back to 1998, is knotted 5-5, and Davidson has won the last three games against Jacksonville.
• The 'Cats and Dolphins have played each season since the inception of Jacksonville's program in 1998.
• Davidson is 4-2 against Jacksonville in the last six meetings, including 2-1 at home.
• The 'Cats are 3-2 against Jacksonville in Richardson Stadium.
• Three games in the series have been decided by a touchdown or less.
• Davidson overcame a 10-0 halftime deficit to post a 20-10 victory in Jacksonville last season.
• Kenny Mantuo logged 22 carries for 135 yards and two touchdowns, and Chad Barnes added 85 yards on 13 carries.
• After Mantuo's touchdown gave the Wildcats a 20-10 lead with 7:25 to play, Jeffrey Scott intercepted a Dolphin pass at the 2-yard line with 5:21 left. The Wildcat offense was able to run out the clock while moving the ball to the Jacksonville 37-yard line.
• Tommie Rogers led the Dolphins with 127 rushing yards and a TD on 17 carries.
Scouting the Dolphins
• Jacksonville is averaging 354.2 yards of offense a game with a majority coming through the air.
• Freshman quarterback Josh McGregor has already thrown for 818 yards and four TDS in four games this season.
• Rudell Small leads the rushing attack with 411 yards on 79 attempts and is averaging 5.2 yards a carry.
• Geavon Tribble is leading the team with 198 receiving yards on 10 catches.
• Tremaine Mack has two of the Dolphins' five interceptions and has returned one for a touchdown.
PFL Honors
• Davidson defensive lineman Daniel Hauffe was named the Pioneer Football League's Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Wildcats' 20-16 victory over Lenoir-Rhyne Sept. 13.
• The junior posted a career-high 13 tackles, including five solo stops, and four were behind the line of scrimmage.
• Hauffe leads Davidson with 22 tackles this season, and five have been for loss. He was also credited with a fumble recovery in the season opener at UNC Pembroke.
