OXFORD, Ohio - The Davidson Field Hockey team was unable to overcome an early deficit on Sunday afternoon, falling to the Ball State Cardinals, 2-0, in the finale of the Miami Kick-Off Classic in Oxford, Ohio.
Ball State got on the board at the 10-minute mark of the first half when Brittany Hammer found the back of the cage to go up, 1-0. Neither team lit up the scoreboard until Jodi Mann converted a penalty shot to give the Cardinals their final 2-0 advantage.
The 'Cats were led offensively by sophomore Courtney Tobe and freshman Christine Rua, who both recorded a pair of shots on the day. Rua's attempts were the first of her collegiate career. Elizabeth Luckey, Kathelijn van der Ven, and Jennie Mostellar also contributed to the team's seven total shots.
