Caroline Price
Caroline Price wrapped up her 32nd and final season as the head women's tennis coach in 2013-14. She began her exemplary tenure at Davidson in 1983 and guided the Wildcats to one national championship and 22 winning seasons, including seven straight years, before Davidson went 12-12 in 2008-09. The women's tennis program is one of two female programs at Davidson to make a national tournament appearance, and among active Davidson coaches, Price has one of the highest overall winning percentage (.584) of any women's team.

Price finished her storied career with an overall record of 422-314 and went 115-88 in Southern Conference duals from 1993-2014 as Davidson played its last year in the SoCon in 2014 and moves to the Atlantic 10 starting in 2014-15.

In the Wildcats' final go-around in the SoCon, they finished with a 2-7 record and 7-18 overall in 2014. They were defeated 4-3 by Wofford in the first round of the league tournament to end a 21-year run in the SoCon. Coach Price saw senior Brites Moniz-Soares become the program's 13th player to earn all-league first team honors and first since Virginia Berry in 2010. It was the seniors second all-league honor as she was named to the second team in 2012. Moniz-Soares ended her four-year career with 44 career wins as she was the Wildcats' No. 1 singles player her final three seasons.

In 2014, three Wildcats reached the 10-win plateau for the first time since 2010. Moniz-Soares' led the way with 14, while Jenna Brunner ended her first year with an impressive 11-11 record and Elaina Cummer won 10 matches. Moniz-Soares and Cummer were one fo the top doubles teams in the SoCon at No. 1, going 12-10 and ending the year on a two-match win streak.

Davidson came to within one win of matching its win total combined from 2011 and 2012, going 9-12 during the 2013 season. The 'Cats, who went 2-8 in SoCon play, opend the season winning seven of its first nine matches. Coach Price coached her first SoCon All-Freshman team member since it was formed in 2009, as Elaina Cummer represented Davidson. The first-year Wildcat stepped right into the starting lineup, winning seven singles matches and capturing another eight in doubles action. Davidson also had a solid run at home, going 9-6 during the season.

In 2012, Davidson again continued its youth movement with five sophomores seeing time in the starting lineup as the Wildcats went 5-19 overall and 2-8 in the SoCon. Of the five wins, four of them came at the friendly confines of Covington Tennis Courts. Sophomore Brites Moniz-Soares took a big step in her sophomore campaign, going a team-best 15-6 in singles action. She was honored with a spot on the All-SoCon Second Team at the No. 2 singles position, making her the 12th Wildcat under Price to get first or second team honors.

In 2011, Price broke in five freshmen as Davidson went just 5-20 overall and 1-9 in league play. It was the first time the Wildcats finished under .500 since the 2001 team went 8-13. The 2011 season was still a milestone year as the veteran coach reached the 400-win plateau for her career, getting it on Feb. 18 in a 7-0 win at home vs. USC-Upstate.

The 2010 campaign saw Davidson finish in the top-four of the SoCon standings with a 7-3 mark, while Price guided the 'Cats to a 15-8 overall record. The 'Cats advanced to the SoCon Tournament, as only the top-four teams made it, before seeing their season come to an end with a defeat to eventual champion College of Charleston. The 15 wins made it the sixth time in the last seven years the Wildcats have tallied at least that many wins in a year and marked the ninth straight season they have had a winning record in league matches.

After opening the season 4-7, Price guided the Wildcats to an 8-5 mark down the stretch, including a 4-1 win in the 'Cats SoCon Tournament opener against Georgia Southern, to finish the 2009 campaign at 12-12 and 6-4 in league play. The winning mark in SoCon matches was the eighth straight season the Wildcats have sported a winning record against their SoCon-foes. Davidson also again had a winning record at home, sporting an 8-4 mark.

For the third time in the past four years, Price led the Wildcats to the finals of the SoCon Tennis Championships as Davidson concluded with a 19-6 overall mark (7-2 in SoCon) in 2008. The 19 wins marked the fifth straight season the Wildcats had taken home at least 15 wins or more in a single season. Of the 19 wins, 10 of them came on the Wildcats' home court as they won their first 10 straight home matches, before falling to close out the regular season.

The 2007 campaign saw Price guide the Wildcats to an 18-7 overall mark and appearance in the 2007 SoCon Women’s Tennis Championship Semifinals before falling to College of Charleston.

Price garnered her third and most recent SoCon Coach of the Year honors during 2001-02 season when her team posted 18 victories. The 2002-03 team followed with a 13-6 season and an appearance in the Southern Conference championship match for the first time since the format of the tournament changed in 1998. And last year, although their hopes for a championship were dashed by College of Charleston in the semifinals of the SoCon Tournament, the Wildcats posted eight regular-season conference wins, the most ever in school history.

In Price's second year at Davidson, she led the team to the 1984 NCAA Division III National Championship, the only national championship ever earned by a Davidson athletic team. In 1985, the Wildcats returned to the NCAA Tournament but lost in the finals to the University of San Diego. That year, the 'Cats set a new school record for wins in a season with 21.

Coach Price was faced with a new challenge in 1987 as Davidson began competing at the Division I level without the advantage of scholarships. Despite the lack of funds and the marked increase in competition, Price's teams still managed to garner more wins than losses. It was not until the 1990-91 season, the first time Davidson College offered scholarships to women, that Price was able to offer scholarships to her players.

In 1993, Davidson started competing as a member of the SoCon after a successful two-year stint (including one league championship) as a member of the Big South Conference. Moving up yet another level in competition, the Wildcats responded to the newest challenge by finishing the season 12-5 for a second-place finish in the league.

Since their introduction to the SoCon more than a decade ago, Price's teams have found great success. Thanks to the 'Cats' impressive 6-1 record in conference play in 1994, Price earned Southern Conference Coach-of-the-Year honors. She was recognized again in 1996 after leading the Wildcat squad to a 5-2 league record.

A 1972 graduate of Furman, Price earned a bachelor of arts degree in physical education. Before her arrival at Davidson, she served as East Carolina's Director of Men's and Women's Tennis.
