Grace Reeder joined the Davidson swimming and diving coaching staff as an assistant coach in June, 2024.
Reeder came to Davidson after a successful career as a swimmer and triathlete at the University of Arizona. She also spent the 2022-23 season as the head swimming coach at Sabino High School in Tucson.
“I am delighted to announce Grace Reeder as the newest member of our coaching staff,” said head coach John Young. “She impressed us all with her presence and with her thoughtful perspective on training and team culture. Her obvious alignment with our program’s goals – to offer our scholar-athletes the most productive balance in college swimming – made her a perfect fit for our staff expansion.”
While Reeder competed collegiately in the southwestern U.S., her move to Davidson marks a return to her home state. Reeder grew up in Asheville and starred at T.C. Roberson High, where, among many honors, she was a 200 IM state champion.
“I am so excited to join the swim and dive family as well as the Davidson community,” said Reeder. “I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to work alongside John, Chris Carter and the rest of the staff. I can’t wait to get started! Go Wildcats!”
A three-year college swimmer, Reeder began her college career at Iowa, where she was a 400 IM finalist at the 2020 Big Ten Championships. At Arizona, she was a Pac-12 Championships finalist in the 400 IM, 200 IM and 200 butterfly before transitioning into triathlon competition for the 2023-24 season. As a triathlete, she qualified for NCAA nationals and also secured her professional triathlon racing license by finishing third at the NTDR Missouri.
“Grace’s exposure to different teams and coaches, and even sports, differentiates her from her peers,” said Young. “The success that her athletes have enjoyed speaks volumes about her ability as a coach and mentor. She is a superstar, and we’re so excited that her coaching aspirations have brought her to Davidson College.”
In May, Reeder earned her B.S. in Human Development and Family Science, with a minor in Sports Management, from Arizona. She was a Dean’s List and Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll honoree.
