First Season
Brad Smith makes his return to Davidson and joins the coaching staff as a kicking coach.
Smith completed his undergraduate degree in philosophy at Davidson in 2007, but with a year of eligibility remaining, walked on the football team at Southern California in 2008 while beginning work on his master’s degree.
At Davidson, Smith had one of the most accurate legs in school history and was named an FCS Mid-Major All-American by Football Gazette and The Sports Network in 2006 to go along with first-team All-Pioneer Football League honors.
He ranks eighth on the Davidson career scoring chart with 133 points on 24 field goals and 61 extra points. Smith was good on 72.7 percent of his field goal attempts and drilled 61-of-66 point after tries.
“After finishing his career at USC, Brad can use his experience at a variety of levels to tutor our young kicking corps,” said head coach Tripp Merritt.
