2010: Started all 51 games in the outfield for the Wildcats ... finished the season batting .297 (60-for-202) with 10 doubles, two triples, eight home runs and 40 RBI ... went 12-for-20 in stolen bases ... had 15 mulit-hit games and 11 multi-RBI games ... put together a 13-game hitting streak from Feb. 27 - March 19 ... recorded three hits on three occasions, including a 3-for-5, three-RBI performance with two runs scored and a pair of home runs at UNCG April 28 ...  also had three hits against Mount St. Mary's (3-for-5, 2 RBI) Feb. 28 and Bryant (3-for-4, 2 RBI) March 6 ... drove in a season-high four runs at Furman March 21, batting 2-for-5 with a home run ... put together a five-game stretch from March 3 - 13, when he batted .476 (10-for-21) with a double, two home runs and 11 RBI.

2009:
Played in 29 games and made 13 starts, either as the designated hitter or in the outfield ... turned in his best performance against Wofford March 22, when he went 2-for-3 with a double and three runs scored ... also recorded a pair of hits against Wake Forest (2-for-6, 3RB) March 24 and College of Charleston (2-for-6, RBI) May 2 ... put together a season-best six-game hitting streak from March 24-April 4 ... named Academic All-SoCon.

2008: Played in 25 contests and made 14 starts as the designated hitter… collected two hits and five at-bats in the last two games of a three-game series vs. Georgia Southern… had a big series at Appalachian State… was 3-for-4 with two RBIs vs. the Mountaineers (4/25) and followed that with a 2-for-5 performance with a homer and two RBIs… went 2-for-5 with a double, a run and an RBI at Furman (5/4)… collected two hits in a three-game series vs. Elon.

Prep/ Personal: Won three letters for coach Jim Jefferson at Westminster… hit .442 as a senior with three homers, 31 RBIs and 17 extra-base hits… hit .385 for his career with five homers, 55 RBIs and 30 extra-base hits… also scored 75 career runs and stole 17 bases… named first-team all-city as a junior and second-team all-city as a senior… team made playoff appearances in 2006 and 2007, recording a 41-17 record in the two seasons… also lettered in football… National Honor Society, National Merit Commended Scholar, AP Scholar ... the son of Houston and Martha Payne… has two younger brothers, Matt and Ian, and a younger sister, Emma.
