
Wildcats Fall to Rhode Island 3-1

KINGSTON, R.I. — The Davidson College men's soccer team suffered a 3-1 road setback to Rhode Island on Wednesday night at the URI Soccer Complex.
The Wildcats dropped their second straight Atlantic 10 contest, falling to 2-2 in league play and 2-4-4 overall. The Rams collected their third consecutive victory to improve to 5-7 overall and 3-1 in the A-10.
Rhode Island jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first 36 minutes despite Davidson holding a 7-5 advantage in first-half shots. Freshman defender Bijan Champagne scored his first career goal late in the first half to cut the deficit to 2-1, heading in a corner kick from Charlie Frink.
Rhode Island extended its lead back to two goals early in the second half, keeping the Wildcats out of reach for the remainder of the match.
Davidson outshot the Rams 21-10 overall and 10-6 in shots on goal. Noah Louzan and Myles Culley led the Wildcats with four shots each.

The Wildcats return home Sunday for Senior Day against Johnson & Wales at 6 p.m.
